As a family photographer in Sydney, I’ve spent over a decade documenting real, tender moments between parents and their children—but there’s something especially powerful about photographing mothers with their kids.

There’s a certain magic in the way a mum holds her child, laughs with them, or simply shares a quiet glance. It’s everyday love—but it's extraordinary.

Too often, mums are the ones behind the camera, capturing memories for everyone else. That’s why I’ve made it my mission each Mother’s Day to help mums step into the frame—with simple, heartfelt, short, and more affordable motherhood sessions.

Mother’s Day Mini Sessions: A Celebration of Mum!

This year, I ran a series of Mother’s Day mini sessions across some of Sydney’s most iconic and beautiful spots—Balmoral Beach, Centennial Park, and right by the Sydney Opera House. I was blown away by the response. Dozens of incredible women decided to say yes to stepping in the frame—to making time for themselves and their connection with their little ones.

The result? Pure magic.

From barefoot cuddles on the sand at Balmoral to playful twirls among the autumn trees in Centennial Park, each session was a reminder of how important it is for mums to be seen, to be celebrated, and to be remembered in the story of their family.

Why It Matters

As mums, we’re often so focused on caring for everyone else that we forget to document our own presence in our children’s lives. But these photos matter—not just for you, but for your kids. They’ll grow up and treasure the images where you are there, holding them, laughing, loving. These are the moments they’ll return to.

Photography allows us to freeze time, even just for a second. And what better time to pause than during the fleeting days of childhood?
